About Product
The literal meaning of “a h e s t e' is "slowly" as well as "calm" in Turkish which represents my joyful and deliberate journey as an artist into a new territory. With this new collection, my inspiration was memories of life moving at a slower pace and a desire to discover moments of serenity. With a h e s t e I encourage you to pause and enjoy the beauty of finding hidden details in simple objects. This new work explores these often-overlooked details and the sentiments behind their creation.
The a h e s t e collection is based on traditional Turkish jugs, pitchers, bowls and amphoras. Combining centuries of history, architecture and culture with the land of my childhood.
About Artist
I was born in Gaziantep, South East Turkey- Eastern Anatolia – a city with a proud cultural heritage where local craftspeople remain fiercely protective of their traditional methods of creating objects for daily use. I grew up surrounded with handmade objects, whether it be the intricate wood carvings in the doorways and window frames or the coppersmiths creating artefacts in workshops throughout the city. The memories of a childhood lived at a gentle and peaceful pace inspired this new collection as I invite the world to re-appreciate the beauty of simple everyday objects.
